The Dream

The Dream
Ever since I was a kid I have had really vivid dreams, and I can recall them years later. I have even had dreams inside dreams that I can remember, and although the nightmares have changed greatly from my youth somethings never change. I dream my teeth are falling out ALL THE TIME. I wake up frantically counting them and thank God I have good dental hygiene. I dream of running and dancing a lot also. Two things in which I have no talent while conscious.

There is one thing that I don’t do often and that is sleep talk or walk. When these “episodes” happen I almost always know what I am say and doing, but I have no control over what is happening. I remember waking up while singing a very boisterous rendition of the star spangled banner. One time I woke Cassie from a dead sleep to ask her “ What are the words you put in front of a paragraph to make it a paragraph?”

Disclaimer!! I would like to stress to everyone reading this that I am not an avid user of words of 4 letter variety. My dream self, on the other hand, is quite the rebel and uses them often. In order to maintain my rated G status I will be substituting all foul words for cute and fluffy fowl words.

So Thursday night I gave my husband of almost 8 years quite a shock. I fell asleep around 10:00 PM. It was not a rest full sleep because I was dreaming that I was laying in bed still trying to fall asleep. I rolled over in bed and flung back the covers. This is when I saw “it” I am not sure what “it” was but I do know the “it” was big, black, and had many many long fury legs. The fury beast was laying on its back and it legs and its legs were clawing frantically in the air.

This is where things get freaky because I was awake, but I wasn’t. I lept out of bed shouting curse words. “Oh chick!” “Chick, Chick , Chick! Holy Chick!”

Justin was in the living room playing Madden 2000 and I don’t care, and was pulled from his football stupor, by my frantic screaming.

“JUSTIN” I hollered down the hall
“What is your problem!”
“There is a huge Spider in our bed.

I must have been frantic or maybe it was all the curse words that were flowing steadily from the room that made him come so quickly. I had yet to turn on the lights and I didn’t have my glasses on. I could see the nasty hairy thing on the bed. I said “ITS RIGHT THERE!!.. Justin turned on the lights and said
“I don’t see it Amelia.”
“It is there!! it is really really angry!! it flipped me off.”
Justin was sure at this point that I was not in my right mind. I was beginning to come to my senses too because I the spider had disappeared from the sheet. I looked at Jus and said “Do you think I was...”
“Dreaming? Yes I think so.” He answered. I asked him to shake out the blankets for me and with no big hairy creatures to be seen I crawled back into bed. Needless to say I didn’t sleep well. For the remainder of the night I would suddenly wake up and madly slap at the blankets trying to remove the bugs that were “Crawling on me”.
Hmmmmmm! I wonder if I inherited this problem.
